We’re excited to share that the CIONIC team is growing! Each new addition to our team brings a unique set of skills, experience, and education, all of which contribute to our company culture and mission to superpower human mobility. Today, we’re excited to introduce one of our newest team members, Stephanie!

What is your role at CIONIC?

I am the newest Mobility Specialist!

Can you introduce yourself and share a bit about your background and experience?

Hi everyone! My name is Stephanie, and I am from the northwest suburbs of Chicago. I have spent most of my life surrounded by sports, which inspired me to receive my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at UW-Oshkosh.

Currently, I am studying for my Master’s in Clinical Exercise Physiology, where I have spent a significant amount of time researching whether or not Parkinson’s patients can improve walking and prevent freezing by utilizing distractions (counting, reciting the alphabet, visualization) to reduce their conscious focus on gait.

Professionally, I started my career as an intern at a neuro exercise gym, working primarily with people with neurological conditions like Parkinson’s, TBI, and stroke. From there, I worked as a personal trainer for Northwestern Fitness Center and taught Rock Steady Boxing Classes for Parkinson’s patients.

I then worked as a lead fitness specialist in Friendship Village, where I worked primarily with neuro patients to continue training regimens after being discharged from outpatient therapy. Throughout this time, I also led the Parkinson’s Support Group, a resource for individuals to share their stories, learn more about how exercise can slow the disease progression, and hear from nurses, dietitians, and PTs about how to best manage their disease.

Now, I am working here at CIONIC!

What attracted you to this role and our company?

My biggest goal has always been to assist people as best I can, especially those with mobility differences. I first heard about CIONIC from a colleague of mine, and after reading the research, I was fascinated by how the Neural Sleeve can improve independence and quality of life.

When meeting everyone, I could tell that the team is determined to do their best to ensure the Neural Sleeve is efficient and helpful for the customers we work with every day.

How would you describe your role and responsibilities at CIONIC?

My role and responsibilities as a Mobility Specialist vary, but my focus is on assisting individuals with the Neural Sleeve during their onboarding and follow-up appointments, collaborating with the clinical team to ensure we give our customers the best experience with the Neural Sleeve, and acting as a coach/cheerleader for our amazing customers!

What are your goals and objectives in this position?

My goal is to assist as many customers as I can and ensure they get the best experience with the Neural Sleeve. I want to ensure that I am there for our customers and can efficiently explain both the technology as well as the importance of exercise when using the sleeve to enhance their muscle strength and gait pattern.

Can you walk us through a typical day or week in your role?

My typical day-to-day involves meeting with customers virtually, for either onboarding or follow-up appointments, to get them started with their Neural Sleeve and to ensure that we are providing the best experience for our customers. A big part of my role is also answering any customer questions regarding their sleeves and stimulation settings.

What do you find most exciting or challenging about your work?

The most exciting part about my position is meeting new individuals every day who are passionate about improving their lives. It inspires me to be the best I can be so that I can work alongside them to help them reach their mobility goals.

What do you enjoy most about working at CIONIC so far?

The one thing I have enjoyed the most about working with CIONIC is the team! Everyone at CIONIC is so pleasant to work with, and whenever you have a question, everyone is so gracious to answer without hesitation. Also, our claims meeting is the best; we all catch up and hear everyone’s success stories and accomplishments, which I love seeing and supporting!

Outside of work, what are some of your hobbies or interests?

Outside of work, you can find me heading to Chicago to find new spots to eat or have fun, attending concerts, or simply gardening or painting outside. I love being outdoors, but I also enjoy watching a good binge-show!
